Cons of moving to Naples, FL

1. Growing City

Naples, Florida is often referred to as a "Little Beach Town"... however, over time Naples has continued to grow as has it's population. Although some areas may still retain it's small beach town charm such as Olde Naples - the majority of the city is busy, with new developments popping up what feels like daily and new residents pouring in. Which leads to #2...

2. Traffic

Naples, Florida is considered to be a Seasonal Town, referring to how "Snowbirds" tend to visit in the Winter Months when it is cold in their Northern states. This influx of visitors can create a significant and noticeable difference in traffic and congestion in the winter months. However, it's clear that Naples is becoming less and less seasonal and more of a busy city year round based on morning and afternoon traffic patterns of full-time residents headed and returning from work.

3. Hurricanes

It's no surprise that we have hurricanes in Florida, just last year in 2022 we were hit by Hurricane Ian and although it was not a direct hit, the storm surge caused significant damage to properties just West of Tamiami Trail / US 41. It seems every destination has their own set of natural disasters yet we are grateful that current technology can track when hurricanes form and provide us with plenty of time to prepare and/or evacuate.

4. Average Temperature

It can get hot in Naples, Florida - it one of the main reasons visitors come visit from up North. With that said Summer can be extra hot, and some folks are not quite used to the humidity found here in Florida. While there are plenty of ways to cool off such as the beach, pool or simply staying indoors, it's certainly something to consider when deciding where you will live.

5. Wildlife

Yes, we have plenty of critters but be reassured that they fear us much more than we fear them. Naples, Florida, is home to a diverse and captivating array of wildlife, thanks to its unique coastal ecosystem and proximity to various natural habitats. The city's surrounding areas encompass rich wetlands, mangroves, estuaries, and pristine beaches, offering an ideal environment for a wide range of animal species. From the iconic American alligator and gentle manatees that inhabit the local waterways to the colorful birdlife like herons, egrets, and ospreys that frequent the skies, Naples provides ample opportunities for wildlife enthusiasts to observe and appreciate nature. Additionally, the nearby Everglades National Park further enhances Naples' biodiversity, providing a habitat for numerous species, including the endangered Florida panther. The city's commitment to preserving its natural surroundings through conservation efforts and protected areas contributes to maintaining this vibrant and captivating wildlife presence.
